Great Start Collaborative

Great Start Collaborative of Mason, Lake and Oceana Counties

Great Start Collaborative of Mason, Lake and Oceana counties was formed in 2008 in response to the statewide Great Start Initiative in Michigan.  Great Start is designed to ensure that all Michigan children arrive at the schoolhouse door safe, healthy and ready for learning and life.  By engaging community partners, the Collaborative's charge is to create a local system for children birth to five that ensures that every child in Mason, Lake, and Oceana counties enters school safe, healthy, and eager to succeed.

As a Great Start community partner, MCDL has developed a collection of print books and DVDs covering aspects of parenting newborns, toddlers and preschoolers from basic child care, potty training, grandparenting, adoption, foster care and much more.  These items are available for check out at Ludington Library.  Also, as part of Universal Class Online, Library patrons can participate in a variety of FREE online courses on parenting skills, pregnancy and birth.  Contact the Library for your account number.
